Our Traditional Thai Puppets are all hand made in the villages around Chaing Mai, the ancient walled Northern Capital of Thailand. These puppets are all beautifully made, the head is hand carved and hand painted. The puppet is then hand sequined to give a stunning finish. The puppet is controlled by a wooden frame and a series of strings giving limited movement to the Head, Body, Hands & Feet.

These beautiful Shadow puppets are all handmade in Ancient City of Yogyajakarta in Central Java. The Shadow Puppets date from when Java was a Hindu Kingdom and the puppets are used to retell the epic Indian Ramayana. Originally the story in whicht the demon king Ramana seized Sita the beautiful wife of Rama was set in Southern India. However Javanese Hinduism transplaced all the events to occur within Java. Now Java is Muslim, the whole court of Java fled to neighbouring Bali where Hinduism still florishes.

We have two sizes the largest is approx. 72 cm high by 28 cm wide and the other is 68 cm by 20cm.

Our Wayang Golek Puppets are the traditional Puppets used in the ancient courts of Java. They are a three dimensional puppet and like the shadow puppets the Wayang Golek puppets represent charecters from the great Hindu Epic the Ramayana. Our wayang Kilitk puppets are a rare type of traditional wooden javanese puppet. They are flat and the wood is directly batiked. Small Rajasthani Puppets Small Rajasthani Puppets Ref: rajpup
Our rajasthani puppets are hand made by a family of puppet makers in the Pink City of Jaipur. Their workshop is within the shadow of the World famous Palace of the Winds. The head is carved from Mulberry Wood by the father and handpainted by the mother whilst the clothes are made from silk by the Grandmother. the puppets are around 18 cm tall . as each puppet is handmade each is different.

Our rajasthani puppets are hand made by a family of puppet makers in the Pink City of Jaipur. Their workshop is within the shadow of the World famous Palace of the Winds. The head is carved from Mulberry Wood by the father and handpainted by the mother whilst the clothes are made from sari fabric by the Grandmother. The puppets are around 60 cm tall and come as either a musican or a dancing girl. as each puppet is handmade each is different. Each puppet is controlled by two strings, one attached to the head and one to the feet and the puppets can be made to dance!

Our Nepalese Durga Puppets come from the mystical city of devotees, Bhraktapur, in the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal. They are traditional puppets which are representations of the traditional Durga Dancers of Bhraktapur. On the festival of Durga, the fiercest Goddess, you can still see the Durga dancers in the Durbar Square in Bhraktapur.

Our puppets are all handmade and all are different. All are two sided, this is to assist the puppet master in cutting down the number of puppets that he needs. Each puppet in represents a god or other figure from Hindu Mythology.
