Fair Trade Djembe Drums Ref: djem
Our fair trade djembe drums range in size from 20 cm to 60 cm in height, the bigger the drum the richer the sound.

Our smallest djembes are ideal for young children or makes a good ornament. The 30cm djembe is ideal for older children whilst the 40cm djembe is a good choice for those who wish to learn to play, although we would advise those with bigger hands to go for a larger drum.

The 40 cm djembe has a good all round sound whilst the 50 cm djembes have a deeper bass sound and are great for those who enjoy playing.

Our 60 cm djembe is a great drum. They have a good deep bass sound and is ideal for those who get lots of pleasure from playing.

Finally our 70 cm djembe is the biggest djembe in this range that we stock, it is a serious drum for serious drummers. They have a great bass sound and is great for those who get lots of pleasure from playing.

We can get bigger drums but these are by special order, email us if you are interested.

Our drums are crafted from teak wood grown in managed plantations in Java, the skins are goat skin.

Our Fair Trade Professional Djemeb Drums are awesome. They are handmade in the traditional manner, they are crafted from teak wood grown in managed plantations and the skin is made from goats skin. The carvings on the djembe are all done by hand by our master carvers. The sound is superb.

Fair Trade Rainsticks Ref: rainst
Fair Trade Rainsticks are a great musical instrument, they are lengths of bamboo filled with small stones and seeds. You slowly turn the rainstick upside down and they make the sound of rain. The longer the rainstick, the richer the sound and the longer the sound will last.

Our rainsticks range between 60 cm and 120 cm in length and each rainstick has been individually decorated and therefore each one is slightly different.

Our 60 cm Rainstick is great for kids, they love turning it round and round and hearing the sound of rain. It must be magic !

Our 80cm Rainstick gives a good shower whilst the 100 cm is more of a downpour. Our largest ( 120cm) rainstick is the full blown monsoon model, the sound is a real downpour and by rotating the stick as you invert it you can get this rainstick to last for ages

Fair Trade Gourd Karimba Ref: gourdkarim
Our Karimba or Thumb Pianos are made from natural materials, the bottom is a soundboxmade from a gourd and the top is handcarved wood. The carving show two gekos. You play the karimba by holding it in your hands with the metal prongs pointing towards you, the prongs or keys are then played with the thumbs. The Karimbas are tuned to the oriental scale but can easily be tuned as desired by losen the screws, moving the keys and retightening the screws.

Our gourd karimbas are approx 20 cm ( 8 in) in diameter and 8 cm (3 in) high.

Our new Fair Trade Thunder Drums are flying of the shelves! Hold them upright so that the spring is hanging down then shake them and they make a deep, rich sound of thunder. It's quite amazing. The tube is around 25 cm and is made from cardboard wrapped in batik paper, the spring is around 30 cm long. We do not recommend pulling the spring as it may damage the Thunder Drum.

Our Fair Trade Bamboo Agogo is handmade in Indonesia. You scrape the thin coconut wood stick along the ridges on the bamboo and it makes an interesting sound, a bit like playing a washboard. The two ends of the stick make different noises. You can also tap the stick against the bamboo to get a rhythm going. 22 cm long by 4 cm diameter, stick 24 cm long.
