Tibetan Thangkas are paintings symbolising different aspects of Tibetan Buddhist Belief. They are painted by skilled artists who have studied the art of Thangkas for many years in special schools. Thangkas are painted onto canvas scrolls. The pigments used are rich natural colours derived by crushing minerals and plants, gold and silver leaf is added to emphasise specific points. We hope that you enjoy browsing through our Thangka Gallery and hopefully you'll find one with which you have a special connection.

Buddhist Monks are allowed to carry only three possesions; a begging bowl, a staff and a cloak. In Tibetan Buddhism the Bowl and Staff have evolved into the Singing Bowl. Singing Bowls are used in Meditation, the monks clear their mind of extraneous thoughts by tuning into the sound of the bowl.

We also have Tingcha, the traditional cymbals used in meditation and hand crafted Prayer Wheels. Each one contains a Buddhist prayer and when you spin it you send the word of the Buddha to the four corners of the World.

Come and visit our wide selection of Buddha from around the world, from small clay and resin buddhas to wonderful large handcarved and guilded Buddha. All are made by Craftsmen and of course all are fair traded. All our Buddha are legally exported from the countries of origin, we are very much opposed to the Art Theft that goes on from many developing countries.

We have also just received a fine hand carved ganesh, made from Sandstone.
<span style='font-family: Arial;font-size: 14px;color: #0000ff;'><strong>!!<<span style='font-size: 14px; color: #0000ff;'>>!!Wallhangings!!<</span>>!!</strong></span> Wallhangings

Our beautiful antique patchwork wallhangings are all works of art. They are handembroidered in the vilages of the great Thar Desert in Rajasthan. The patches are derived from the old embroidered clothes which the villagers buy from the nomadic people who pass through their area, some of the pieces come from as far afield as Afganistan. Many of the pieces are very old and valuable having been passed down through families from mother to daughter many times.

The village women create a design with the patches which they handstitch onto a backing cloth and edge with braid. Some patchworks are then overdyed to give a more uniform colour, whilst others with bright colours and patterns are left undyed. Each patchwork is unique and all are beautiful examples of an ancient craft which is being kept alive by the skilful hands of the village women of Rajasthan.

We also have some stunning examples of modern hangings

<span style='font-family: Arial;font-size: 14px;color: #0000ff;'><strong>!!<<span style='font-size: 14px; color: #0000ff;'>>!!Indian Silk Paintings!!<</span>>!!</strong></span> Indian Silk Paintings

Our silk painting are all handpainted in the traditional manner by an ancient family of silk painters. Most silk paintings depict scenes from Hindu Mythology, however we also have a few pictures of animals. The pigments used in our paintings are all mineral or plant based and gold leaf is used to great effect. All our paintings are originals, so when its gone its gone!
