One World is Enough is proud to be different

We are a small family business and like to be different in this materialistic society;

We try to treat everyone with respect. We try and put happiness before money. As the King of Bhutan said' We should measure countries in terms of Gross National Happiness, rather than Gross National Product. How exactly you measure this we are not quite sure!

We work together in long term partnership with our producers, we want them to do well. They are our friends, we visit them every year. We help them , they supply us with lovely things!

We design our own ranges of clothes in partnership with our suppliers.

We try to minimise our impact on the environment, we recycle all our packaging and send out our orders in recycled packaging.

We don't use call centers, we answer our own phones and process and package our own orders.

Also unlike many online businesses we don't sell your email address or other details to other companies

Free Tibet !

Tibet, the Land of the Snows, is an amazing place. It is a very special place for us, as we have been priviledged to spend time with the Tibetans visting some of the awesome monastries. With an average height of 16,000 ft the air is thin, the sky is a very dark blue and the people are amazingly devout. It is the home of Tibetan Buddhism and its spirtual Leader, the Dalai Lama. In 1953 the Chinese Peoples Liberation Army invaded and despite a spirited resistance the poorly armed peasants were no match for the Chinese. Since then the Chinese have exploited the Land, Tortured the people and destroyed the fabled monastries, but they have not broken the spirit of the Tibetans. Our T Shirt shows the Tibetan Flag ( which it is illegal to fly in Tibet itself) with the words 'Free Tibet' in English and Tibetan. Show your support!

One World is Enough enable Nepalese Girls to go to School

We are enabling two bright Nepalese Girls, Angel and Eleanor to continue going to their School. Their father, Jason, used to supply us with crochet hats but after breaking his neck he has been unable to continue paying the school and exams fees. Peter Harlow, our founder, went to visit them in the one room in which they now live in Kathmandu. We hope to start buying from Jason again once he is able to start up his business again.

Nepali Children

Angel with her young brother Emmanuel. We are paying for Angel to go to School.

Fair Trade Bags

Our bags are all embroidered on an old fashion Singer Sewing Machine. We show Mr Rashid and his brothers our designs.

He then traces out the designs in Chalk. The brothers then put an embroidery ring on the bag and embroider the design freehand on to the bags, one colour at a time. It is amazing watching them work, they do it so quickly and so skillfully. Many people do not beleive that the embroidery is all hand controlled and tell us that it has been done on a computer.

We prefer the old fashioned method that keeps Mr Rashid and his brothers in work.

Mr Rashid and his brothers also make our beautiful embroidered T Shirts, click here to see the adult range and click here to see the children's designs

Nepali Velvet Bag

We have a great selection of embroidered bags from Nepal

We've got lots of Djembe Drums, Karimbas ( thumb pianos) pictured, rainsticks, loads of interesting shakers, slit drums. click here to browse through our collection

Whats New for 2007

by Peter Harlow , founder One World is Enough

2006 has been a very busy year for us here at One World is Enough. Sales on the internet have increased massively and we have shipped our clothes and crafts all over the world, we find the internet a particularly good way of selling our products as we are able to tell our online customers all about each product. As we personally source all our products and visit all our suppliers at least once a year there is a story to tell behind each product, a story of small family or community businesses in poor countries trying to help themselves and their communities by creating beautiful things that we can sell in the more developed countries.

Customer Comments

I just wanted to say thank you. I received my order this morning and I love the clothes. I was getting so frustrated with the 'High Street' and it was great to find an ethically run company with nice clothes at a reasonable price. I will pass the message on.

Danielle, London

I recently ordered a Djembe Drum from you. It was a surprise 30th birthday present for my best friend and she absolutely loves it, especially the fact that it was fairly traded.
